August 27
ANN: You will find two or three assignments in MyMathLab (MML) that are due this upcoming Tuesday, September 3. They are "MML Interface Homework" which will cover the MML interface including how to enter answers, and "Section 5.1 Homework" will cover the material we cover Thursday in class. You may also have "Section 5.2 Homework" due then. It depends on what we get through Thursday. The syllabus will explain how we will usually have MML due the Tuesday after the week we finish the notes in class. In class, we introduced ourselves to each other and talked over some bits from the syllabus and class policies. I also handed out information from the math tutoring center. Please set up MML and read the syllabus in full by next class.
August 29
ANN: The campus is closed Monday, Sep. 2 for Labor Day. You may need to work around that to get the homework done. ANN: You will find two assignments in MyMathLab (MML) that are due this upcoming Tuesday, September 3. They are "MML Interface Homework" which will cover the MML interface including how to enter answers, as well as "Section 5.1 Homework" which covers the material we did today in class. In class, I spent some time showing off the resources, including the homework screens, in MML. We then went on to cover the class notes for 5.1.
September 3
ANN: Remember that both "MML Interface Homework" and "Section 5.1 Homework" are due tonight at midnight in MML. In class, we covered the class notes for 5.2. You will see that "Section 5.2 Homework" is now due next Tuesday in MML. We went on to cover the class notes for 5.3. I handed out an extra Bank Reconciliation Form to be used in the homework as you see fit. Since we finished the 5.3 notes today, that MML homework is due next Tuesday.
September 5
[Friday, September 6 is the last day to drop the class and receive a full refund.] ANN: Remember that you will have MML assignments for 5.2 and 5.3 all due this upcoming Tuesday. In class, we worked on the class notes for 6.1, getting through example 5. We will continue next time. Since we did not finish those notes, that homework is not technically due Sep. 10 but you could start on it if you wanted to.
September 10
ANN: Exam 1 which covers chapters 5 and 6 will be Tuesday, Sep. 24. We will meet in MA 308, a computer lab to take the MML exam. You will see curtailed due dates for section 6.4 in MML as well as two chapter review assignments in MML homework. Those are due Monday, Sep. 23 so you are done with the homework by exam day. In class, we finished the class notes for 6.1. We then started the class notes for 6.2, getting through example 5.
September 12
Class cancelled due to teacher illness.
September 17
ANN: Exam 1 which covers chapters 5 and 6 will still be Tuesday, Sep. 24, because I think we have time to cover what we need. We will meet in MA 308, a computer lab to take the MML exam. Be sure you know your LC and MML log-in information. You will see curtailed due dates for sections 6.2 - 6.4 in MML as well as two chapter review assignments in MML homework. The chapter review assignments are meant to act as a review for the exam. Those are due Monday, Sep. 23 so you are done with the homework by exam day. In class, we finished the class notes for 6.2. We then covered the class notes for 6.3. We even started the class notes for 6.4, but only got as far as introducing the section with the first half of page 1. We will continue next time.
September 19

The chapter review assignments are meant to act as a review for the exam. Those are due Monday, Sep. 23 so you are done with the homework by exam day. In class, we finished the class notes for 6.4. We worked on the worksheet Reading tax tables: Percentage method for withholding. Together, we worked on pages 1-5. Students had time to work on the four practice problems at the end. The worksheet will be due Tuesday before we take the exam. Only the four practice problems on pages 5-6 will be graded.
September 24
I collected Reading tax tables: Percentage method for withholding. We took Exam 1. If you missed it, read the syllabus and look for an email from me.
September 26
We covered the class notes for 7.1. I handed out Net Cost Equivalents of Series Discounts. It was collected.
October 1
We covered the class notes for 7.2 and the class notes for 7.3. I handed out Final Discount and Net Payment Dates to be done for next class.
October 3
I collected Final Discount and Net Payment Dates from last time. We covered the class notes for 7.4. We then started the class notes for 8.1, getting through example 3.
October 8
We finished the class notes for 8.1. We then covered the class notes for 8.2.

You are allowed a 3x5 notecard for any notes you like, front and back of card allowed. If you do not have a notecard, just cut a piece of paper to that size. Also, remember that there will be some curtailed due dates since you need to have all the homework done by the time you take the test. You will see chapter review homework assignments like last time. In class, we covered the class notes for 8.3. We then started the class notes for 8.4, getting through page 1.
October 17
ANN: We will not have class Thursday, Oct. 24. ANN: Exam 2 over chapters 7 and 8 is set for Tues., Oct. 22. We will meet in SC 412 (Science wing of our building) to take the 75-minute MML exam. You are allowed a 3x5 notecard for any notes you like, front and back of card allowed. If you do not have a notecard, just cut a piece of paper to that size. Also, remember that there will be some curtailed due dates since you need to have all the homework done by the time you take the test. You will see chapter review homework assignments like last time. In class, we finished the class notes for 8.4. I handed out Valuation of Inventory (section 8.4) to be done for next time. In fact, students started it in class as we had about 15 minutes. It will be collected before the exam.
October 22
[Tuesday, October 22 is the last day to submit late paper or MML work from weeks 1-8.] ANN: We will not have class Thursday, Oct. 24. I collected Valuation of Inventory. We took Exam 2. If you missed it, read the syllabus and look for an email from me.

October 31
ANN: The MML homework for 9.1 was erroneously set at 10/29. However, we did not do the notes 'til this week so it should have been 11/5. I will correct that and email you on how to get rid of the late penalty if it has been taken off for you. In class, we completed the class notes for 9.2. I handed out Simple Interest: Finding Principal, Rate, and Time to be done for next time. We then started the class notes for 9.3, getting through page 5.
November 5
ANN: Exam 3 will cover 9.1-9.4 and 10.1-10.3. It will be either Nov. 19 or 21. I am tending toward the 19th. In class, I collected Simple Interest: Finding Principal, Rate, and Time from last time. We finished the class notes for 9.3. We started the class notes for 9.4, getting through page 3.
November 7
ANN: Exam 3 will cover 9.1-9.4 and 10.1-10.3. It will be either Nov. 19 or 21. I am tending toward the 19th. If it is Nov. 19, we will meet in MA 308. Remember you are allowed a 3x5 notecard, which I will provide, for any notes you like. Also, there will be shortened due dates in MML. In class, we finished the class notes for 9.4. We started the class notes for 10.1, getting through page 3. We also completed the worksheet for this section, Understanding Compound Interest Through Simple Interest. We did the worksheet together so it was not collected.
November 12
ANN: Exam 3 will cover 9.1-9.4 and 10.1-10.3. It will be Tues., Nov. 19. We will meet in MA 308. Remember you are allowed a single 3x5 notecard, which I provided today in class, for any notes you like. If you did not get one from me, you can come to office hours or provide your own. Also, there will be shortened due dates in MML. In class, we finished the class notes for 10.1. We then went on to cover the class notes for 10.2. I handed out Banking application: Savings account with multiple withdrawals. We will go over it next time. However, if you wanted to do the MML homework before that, you can read pages 1 and 2 for an example of the multiple withdrawals problems. I will be assigning page 3 (two practice problems) next class. Not counting the worksheet, we finished the 10.2 notes.
November 14
ANN: Exam 3 will cover 9.1-9.4 and 10.1-10.3. It will be Tues., Nov. 19. We will meet in MA 308. It was stated that you were allowed a single 3x5 notecard, which I provided last time in class, for any notes you like. However, it was discussed today and we determined that it was a little small, so we changed that to an entire piece of paper. You can use the front and back of this sheet, and still write anything you want. I will email people about this as well. Also, there will be shortened due dates in MML. In class, we discussed the worksheet Banking application: Savings account with multiple withdrawals for section 10.2. I asked students to complete it (the two practice problems on page 3) to be turned in next class. We had some time in class to start that. We also covered the class notes for 10.3.
November 19
I collected Banking application: Savings account with multiple withdrawals. We took Exam 3. If you missed it, read the syllabus and look for an email from me.
November 21
We covered the class notes for 12.1 and started the class notes for 12.2, getting through page 3.
November 26
We finished the class notes for 12.2. We then covered the class notes for 12.3.
November 28
No school; Thanksgiving break Nov. 27-29. [Monday, December 2 is the last day to withdraw from the class with a grade of W.]
December 3
ANN: Exam 4 over 12.1-12.5, 13.1, and 13.2 is set for Tues., Dec. 17. This will be the last day we meet. We will meet in room MA 308 to take the 75-minute MML exam. We have no final exam. Also, you are allowed an 8x10 sheet of paper for notes. In class, we covered the class notes for 12.4. We then started the class notes for 12.5, getting through page 2.
December 5
We finished the class notes for 12.5. We then started the class notes for 13.1, getting through page 3. I handed out Finding Property Tax Amounts with Various Rates to be done for next time.
December 10
Class cancelled due to teacher sick day.
December 12
ANN: Exam 4 over 12.1-12.5, and 13.1 is set for Tues., Dec. 17. This will be the last day we meet. Since I had to cancel last class, we are skipping 13.2 for the exam. We will meet in room MA 308 to take the 75-minute MML exam. We have no final exam. Also, you are allowed an 8x10 sheet of paper for notes. In class, I collected Finding Property Tax Amounts with Various Rates after spending a few minutes in class on questions. We finished the class notes for 13.1.
