ANN: You will see two MML (MyMathLab) assignments due Monday, August 30 (meaning midnight at the end of Monday). The first is "Chapter O Homework" which will cover the MML interface including how to enter answers. Also, "Section 1.1 Homework" will cover the material we cover this week (Wednesday) in class. Those are both due this upcoming Monday (although I may postpone the 1.1 assignment) . The syllabus will explain how we will usually have MML due the Monday after the week we finish the notes in class. In class, we introduced ourselves to each other and talked over some bits from the syllabus and class policies. I would like you to get MML set up as instructed on the syllabus and start on "Chapter O Homework" before next class. Although, you have through midnight Monday to get it and the other MML assignment fully done. Next time, I will give you a handout for the Math Resource Center (MRC) which is our tutoring location. I will also do a bit of a demo for MML to help you get started.
Aug. 25
ANN: Chapter O Homework is due next Monday so get MML set up and do that assignment. It will help familiarize you with the interface of MML. Also, Section 1.1 Homework was going to be due then but we did not finish the Class Notes for 1.1, so it will be due the following Monday, Sep. 6. ANN: There was a MML setting where MML required you to watch the videos before doing any problems in the homework assignments; I have since removed that requirement. I still recommend you watch the videos as they are useful and will fill in some gaps left in my Notes. You will receive a point for each video you watch through the homework. In class, I handed out information for the Math Resource Center, our tutoring center. I demonstrated MML, focusing on homework and the Ask My Instructor option. The interface is somewhat different than what is described on the syllabus. The stuff I describe is still there; it just looks different. We started our discussion of the Class Notes for 1.1, getting through page 4. We will continue next time. You should register for MML (as described on the syllabus) and do Chapter O Homework. It would be wise to also start on Section 1.1 Homework to get a start on it. You will be asked to work on it in earnest next Monday but with what we covered today, you should be able to get a good start on it. If you missed class, you can find the video (previously recorded) of me going through the Class Notes in that section of the Website.
Aug. 30
ANN: Chapter O Homework is due tonight so get MML set up (if you have not yet) and do that assignment. It will help familiarize you with the interface of MML. In class, I handed out an amendment to my office hours. Please put it in your binder in front of the syllabus. We finished the Class Notes for 1.1. We then started on the Class Notes for 1.2, getting through page 1.
Sep. 1
ANN: Chapter O Homework in MML was due Mon., Aug. 30. However, you can still do it (in full or in part) for 50% credit. Only problems finished after the due date are subject to the 50% late penalty. ANN: You will see that Section 1.1 and Section 1.2 Homework assignments are due this upcoming Monday, Sep. 6 in MML. If you need the campus computers to do homework, get it done early because the campus is closed on Sep. 6 for Labor Day. We finished the Class Notes for 1.2 and we started the Class Notes for 1.3, getting through page 1. Since we did not finish the 1.3 Notes, the homework is not due next Monday but you could work on it if you wanted. Definitely, work on the others that are due.
Sep. 6
Labor Day -- no school
Sep. 8
We finished the Class Notes for 1.3. We started the Class Notes for 2.1, getting through example 2.
Sep. 13
ANN: Section 1.3 Homework in MML is due tonight while Section 2.1 Homework (and possibly Sections 2.2 and 2.3) are due next Monday night. You should work on homework assignments throughout the week. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 2.1. We started the Class Notes for 2.2, getting through page 2.
Sep. 15
ANN: Exam 1 over chapters 1 and 2 will be available Wed., Sep. 22 through Tues., Sep. 28. You will do it at home on your own time. Please use your Notes, book, and MML Homework but do not consult other people when you are taking the exam. You will see Chapter 1 Review Homework and Chapter 2 Review Homework due Sep. 28 as well which will help you study. You will have two hours to do the exam and it must be done in one session. You must do all the homework up to a 20% score to open the exam. That way, you won't accidentally enter the exam when you have not seen the homework. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 2.2. We then started the Class Notes for 2.3, getting through example 1.

We skipped examples 2b and 5def. We will skip examples 2, 4, 6, and 7 in these Notes. I got a little overzealous when writing the Notes during virtual teaching; the skipped examples are redundant or not represented in the homework.

ANN: I am giving students who scored less than 70% on Exam 1 the opportunity to redo it to get a better score. If this applies to you, I emailed you earlier. If you choose to do this, complete the exam by Mon., Oct. 11. The better score will stand. If you scored 70% or higher and want to take advantage of this, contact me and I will set it up for you as well; I just did not do it automatically. In class, we reviewed the Class Notes for 3.1, including pages 5-10 which was covered in the video you watched under Class Notes as my email last week (for my absence) instructed. We then started the Class Notes for 3.2, getting through example 4. We will continue next time.
Oct. 6
We worked to finish the Class Notes for 3.2. We did not get to the 3.3 Notes this week so I will postpone that assignment's due date but MML 3.2 will be due next Monday.

ANN: I am giving students who scored less than 70% on Exam 2 the opportunity to redo it to get a better score. If this applies to you, I emailed you earlier. If you choose to do this, complete the exam by Tues., Nov. 2. The better score will stand. If you scored 70% or higher and want to take advantage of this, contact me and I will set it up for you as well; I just did not do it automatically. We started the Class Notes for 12.3, getting through example 3b.
Nov. 1
There is no class today. I took a personal day to care for my kids.
Nov. 3
I had to miss due to illness. Please watch the 12.3 video under Class Notes to complete your Notes.
Nov. 8
I asked for questions over the 12.3 material and I went over the Notes briefly, reminding students to watch the 12.3 video as I instructed last week if you have not to finish out those Notes. We then started the Class Notes for 13.1, getting through page 3. [After class, I found out that the email I thought I had sent last Wednesday was not received. As a result, students did not get the instruction to watch the 12.3 video in my absence. I have sent another email with that instruction and have postponed that MML homework due date through Nov. 15.]
Nov. 10
(Thursday, Nov. 11 is Veteran's Day -- no school) ANN: After realizing that the email I thought I sent out last week (for my absence Wed. 3 and about you finishing 12.3 Notes with the help of my video under Class Notes) did not go through, I extended the due date for 12.3 MML homework to give you time to watch the video and do the homework.
