ANN: You will see two MML (MyMathLab) assignments due Tuesday, August 31 (meaning midnight at the end of Tuesday). The first is "MML Interface Homework" which will cover the MML interface including how to enter answers. Also, "Section 5.1 Homework" will cover the material we cover this week (Thursday) in class. Those are both due this upcoming Tuesday. The syllabus will explain how we will usually have MML due the Tuesday after the week we finish the notes in class. In class, we introduced ourselves to each other and talked over some bits from the syllabus and class policies. I would like you to get MML set up as instructed on the syllabus and start on "Chapter O Homework" before next class. Although, you have through midnight Tuesday to get it and the other MML assignment fully done. I handed out a handout for the Math Resource Center (MRC) which is our tutoring location. I will also do a bit of a demo for MML next time to help you get started.
Aug. 26
ANN: Remember that MML Interface Homework and Section 5.1 Homework will be due in MML Tues., Aug. 31. In class, I handed out an amendment to my office hours. Please put it in your binder in front of the syllabus. I demonstrated MML, focusing on homework and the Ask My Instructor option. The interface is somewhat different than what is described on the syllabus. The stuff I describe is still there; it just looks different. We covered the Class Notes for 5.1.
Aug. 31
ANN: Remember that MML Interface Homework and Section 5.1 Homework will be due in MML tonight. In class, we covered the Class Notes for 5.2 and the Class Notes for 5.3. The Class Notes for 5.2 came with the worksheet Charley’s Café Credit Card Charges which should be done as extra practice. We will discuss it next time. The Class Notes for 5.3 came with an extra bank reconciliation form, more of which can be gotten under Assorted Handouts and Tutorials.
Sep. 2
ANN: Remember that MML Interface Homework and Section 5.1 Homework were due in MML Tues., Aug. 31. However, you can still do them (in full or in part) for 50% credit. Only problems finished after the due date are subject to the 50% late penalty. ANN: You will see that Section 5.2, 5.3, and 6.1 Homework assignments are due this upcoming Tuesday, Sep. 7 in MML. In class, we discussed the 5.2 worksheet I gave out Tuesday. We then covered the Class Notes for 6.1.
Sep. 7
(Monday, Sep. 6 is Labor Day -- no school.) ANN: Remember that Section 5.2, 5.3, and 6.1 Homework assignments are all due tonight, Tuesday, Sep. 7 in MML. Please use your Notes and MML Homework but do not consult other people when you are taking the exam. In class, we covered the Class Notes for 6.2 and then started the Class Notes for 6.3, getting through page 1.

Please use your Notes and MML Homework but do not consult other people when you are taking the exam. You will have two hours to take the exam. I will make the textbook available to you in the exam but you will not have other study aids like the "Show me an example" options. Also, due on Sep. 22 will be the Chapter 5 Review Homework and the Chapter 6 Review Homework. They will help you study for the exam. ANN: You will have Section 6.2 and Section 6.3 Homework assignments due this upcoming Tuesday. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 6.3. We then started the Class Notes for 6.4, getting through page 3. I do have a video of me going over that worksheet under Assorted Handouts and Tutorials. We will continue with 6.4 Notes next time.
Sep. 14
ANN: Exam 1 over chapters 5 and 6 will be available Thurs., Sep. 16 through Wed., Sep. 22. You will do it at home on your own time. Please use your Notes, book, and MML Homework but do not consult other people when you are taking the exam. You will see Chapter 5 Review Homework and Chapter 6 Review Homework due Sep. 22 as well which will help you study. You will have two hours to do the exam and it must be done in one session. You must do all the homework up to a 20% score to open the exam. That way, you won't accidentally enter the exam when you have not seen the homework. In class, we covered the Percentage Method for withholding taxes to finish out the Class Notes for 6.4. This is page 4 in the Notes. We did the worksheet Reading tax tables: Percentage method for withholding as the main examples for that method. Students spent the remainder of class to complete the four practice problems at the end of the worksheet and we went over the answers. You can watch the video of me going over the worksheet under Assorted Handouts and Tutorials.

ANN: I am giving students who scored less than 70% on Exam 1 the opportunity to redo it to get a better score. If this applies to you, I emailed you earlier. If you choose to do this, complete the exam by Tues., Oct. 5. The better score will stand. If you scored 70% or higher and want to take advantage of this, contact me and I will set it up for you as well; I just did not do it automatically. In class, we answered questions from the Class Notes for 7.1 and briefly reviewed the Net Cost Equivalent (NCE). I stapled to these Notes a worksheet called Net Cost Equivalents of Series Discounts. We will go over its answers Thursday. We then covered the Class Notes for 7.2 and the Class Notes for 7.3.
