Jan. 18
[Monday, January 16 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the college is closed.] ANN: Chapter O Homework in MyMathLab (MML) will be due this upcoming Monday, January 23. In class, students introduced themselves and I introduced the class with several policies and class details. I handed out the syllabus and we looked through the main points. You should read it thoroughly soon. You need to get MyMathLab (MML) set up as well; you will see instructions under MyMathLab and on the syllabus. I did a brief demonstration of my Website www.stlmath.com and the MML homework. I also handed out the handout for our Math Resource Center which is our math tutoring location on campus.
Jan. 23
ANN: Chapter O Homework in MyMathLab (MML) will be due this Monday, January 23. In class, we covered the Class Notes for 1.1 and the Class Notes for 1.2 fully. We then went on to start the Class Notes for 1.3, getting through example 4. With the 1.3 Notes, I handed out Multiplication Table to 81 and Multiplication Facts Tables (from math-drills.com) for practice with these math facts if you want or need them.

Feb. 1
ANN: Due to the snow days, I had to adjust MML due dates and even moved the first exam. You will see that Sections 1.3 and 1.4 assignments are due this upcoming Monday. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 1.3 and covered the Class Notes for 1.4. We then completed the Class Notes for 1.5 and started the Class Notes for 2.1, getting through page 2. There is a worksheet for this last section of Notes that will be assigned Monday and due Wednesday of next week.
Feb. 6
ANN: Remember that Tuesdays are when MML assignments come due. You should be working on them, a little each day, through the week but be sure to finish assignments on time. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 2.1. A worksheet attached to these Notes, Understanding Fractions with Pictures,will be collected Wednesday. We then covered the Class Notes for 2.2.
Feb. 8
We discussed and I collected Understanding Fractions with Pictures and we covered the Class Notes for 2.3. We then started the Class Notes for 2.4, getting through example 9.
Feb. 13
ANN: Exam 1 over chapters 1-3 is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 20. You will see three chapter review assignments in MML to help you prepare which will be due Sunday, Feb. 19. Other due dates will be curtailed. You are allowed to use your Class Notes, calculator, and homework notebook during the exam. You must have 20% on every homework assignment (including the chapter review assignments) for the exam to open. We will likely meet in room MA 308 to take the MML exam. Near the end of class, we changed the exam day from Feb. 22 to the 20th because we are moving quicker than I thought we would. I will verify the room and tell you next time. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 2.4. We then covered the Class Notes for 3.1 and started the Class Notes for 3.2, getting through example 8.
Feb. 15
ANN: Exam 1 over chapters 1-3 is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 20. You will see three chapter review assignments in MML to help you prepare which will be due Sunday, Feb. 19. Other due dates (Sections 2.4-3.3 Homework) will be curtailed to Sunday, Feb. 19. You are allowed to use your Class Notes, calculator, and homework notebook during the exam. You must have at least 20% on every homework assignment (including the chapter review assignments) for the exam to open. We will meet in room MA 308 to take the MML exam. In class, we finished the Class Notes for 3.2 and then covered the Class Notes for 3.3.
Feb. 20
We took Exam 1. If you missed, look for an email from me. You will need to make up the exam within one week.
Feb. 22
ANN: Our next exam is over chapters 4 and 5, which should come around March 22. ANN: Exam 1 had an overall average of 78% so that is good. Look over Exam 1 (you can Review it under the MML Gradebook) for harsh grading. If you have something you got marked wrong and want me to look at, tell me. In class, we covered the Class Notes for 4.1 and then the Class Notes for 4.2.

ANN: Exam 2 over chapters 4 and 5 is set for Wed., March 22, the week we come back from Spring Break. ANN: Late MML or paper work can be done for half credit. In class, we covered the Class Notes for 4.3 and the Class Notes for 4.4. The 4.4 worksheet Percent Applications will be collected Monday.
Mar. 6
ANN: Exam 2 over chapters 4 and 5 is tentatively set for Wed., March 22, the week we come back from Spring Break. If we can get through chapter 5 in the next few days, then the exam will be March 22. If not, we may have to postpone it to the following Monday. We will meet in room MA 308. You will have two MML chapter review homework assignments and some section homework assignments due Tues., March 21. You must have at least 20% scores on all homework for the exam to open. As always, you are allowed to use your Class Notes, homework notebook, and calculator on the exam. In class, I collected Percent Applications and we covered the Class Notes for 4.5. A 4.5 worksheet, Special Percent Applications, will be collected next time. We then started the Class Notes for 5.1, getting through page 4.

[Spring Break is Mon., March 13 through Fri., March 17. No school] ANN: Exam 2 over chapters 4 and 5 is being moved to Mon., March 27 due to my illness. You will have two MML chapter review homework assignments and some section homework assignments due Sun., March 26. You must have at least 20% scores on all homework for the exam to open. As always, you are allowed to use your Class Notes, homework notebook, and calculator on the exam. In class, I collected Special Percent Applications (section 4.5) from last Monday and we covered the Class Notes for 5.2 and started the Class Notes for 5.3, getting through example 9.

Apr. 3
ANN: Any late MML work from chapters 1-5 must be done by tonight midnight. ANN: I may have to take Monday, April 17 (possibly, April 19 too) off for jury duty. I will be finding out the night before (and emailing you) whether or not I will be able to make class that Monday. Hopefully, they will not need me for long. ANN: We have three more sections to cover in chapter 7 and then we'll have the exam, probably April 12. In class, we worked through the Class Notes for 7.1. The worksheet Beginning Algebra will be due Wednesday. We then worked through the Class Notes for 7.2. We then covered the Class Notes for 7.3.

ANN: Exam 3 over chapters 6 and 7 is set for Wed., April 12. You will see two chapter review assignments as well as Section 7.8 homework due in MML (and possibly Section 7.5 too) due on Tues., April 11. You are allowed to use your Class Notes, homework notebook, and calculator. You do need at least 20% on all homework assignments or the exam will not open. We will meet in room MA 308. In class, I collected Beginning Algebra from 7.1 and we covered the Class Notes for 7.4 and started the Class Notes for 7.5, getting through example 6. There is a worksheet attached to the 7.4 Notes. It is called Solving Linear Equations and will be collected next time.
Apr. 10
ANN: Exam 3 over chapters 6 and 7 is set for Wed., April 12. You will see two chapter review assignments as well as Sections 7.5 and 7.8 homework assignments due in MML due on Tues., April 11. You are allowed to use your Class Notes, homework notebook, and calculator. You do need at least 20% on all homework assignments or the exam will not open. We will meet in room MA 308. In class, I collected Solving Linear Equations and we finished the Class Notes for 7.5. We then covered the Class Notes for 7.8.

ANN: Look for an email from me Sunday night to tell you if we have class next Monday due to my possible jury duty. In class, we took Exam 3. If you missed, look for an email from me. You have through April 19 to make it up in Haskell or alternative location.

[April 24 is the last day to withdraw and receive a grade of W, instead of a D or F.] ANN: Remember you can do late MML or paper worksheets for half credit. ANN: Exam 4 will be over chapters 8, 9, 10, and 12. It is set for Wed., May 10. We'll meet in room MA 308. In class, I asked how the chapter 8 material went. Since only one person did only one section of chapter 8 MML homework, I revised my plan for my absence last week. I ask that you still do 8.1 and 8.2 on your own using the PowerPoints on MML. You can find them in MML under the Multimedia Library. I will cover 8.3 and 8.4 on Wednesday. In class, we covered the Class Notes for 9.1. The 9.1 worksheet Volume and Surface Area of Prisms will be collected next time. We then covered the Class Notes for 9.3.
Apr. 26
We worked through the Class Notes for 8.3 and the Class Notes for 8.4. That, along with your independent work on sections 8.1 and 8.2, wraps up chapter 8.
May 1
ANN: Exam 4 over chapters 8-10 and 12 is set for Wed., May 10. We will meet in room MA 308. As always, you may use your Class Notes, homework, and calculator. In class, we worked through the Class Notes for 10.1.
May 3

ANN: Exam 4 over chapters 8-10 and 12 is set for Wed., May 10. We will meet in room MA 308. In class, I collected the 10.2 worksheet Trigonometry Ratios. We then covered the Class Notes for 12.1 and the Class Notes for 12.2. Homework will be due May 9, the night before our exam.
